1. My new surface area function is going to be used to see how the can would look if the surface area was to get bigger or smaller. The ultimate goal of finding the new function is to notice the independent and dependent part of the project.
2. I would use this function to visually represent the relationship between the height and the surface area of my can to show how the surface area increasing or decreasing will impact the height of the can because when the surface area is changed so is the height.

Exit Slip 5.3.10
I believe it is necessary for us to combine two formula because in order to get the Surface Area of a shape we will need the height and in order to get the height we have to slow for height first.
I would need to get the surface area and volume simplified by using the formula. As well as solving for the height so that I can plug that into the Surface Area formula and to remember these steps i will use the justification method so when i go back to refer to this unit I know how i got my answers and will be able to help anybody in need of help because i will have perfected this method. I can't forget to all add my unit, in our case cm.

11.4 Exit Slip 4.27.10
The most important concept of Tuesday's lesson was being able to find the height using the given radius and Volume. The mathematical tools I used were both a calculator and the computer. The calculator to plug in the expression to get the height of my can. the computer to go on google docs; create a new spread sheet and graph the answers I got for the heights. The graph had to be titled Radius v.s Height. these two tools helped me very much because I wouldn't have to do all the problems hand written because it would've taken too much time. This made my job easier by keeping me more calm and not under pressure because I wasn't going to have to do every problem manually to get the heights.
11.4 Exit Slip 4.23.10
Today as a class we made sure every one understood how to measure their can and made sure they measured more than one time to find the Diameter. I was able to accomplish finishing my worksheet that involved find the diameter of the Davis Baking Powder as well as the radius then finding the Volume using the formula which was TTr^2*h ; I was also responsible for finding the surface area using the following formula 2TTr^2+ 2TTrh . Knowing the formulas I had to then fill in r with my calculated radius and so on. There isn't a skill I necessarily learned but I did notice that sometimes you have to keep measuring things because your first measurement might not be as accurate as it would be if you try it 3 or 4 times. I'll be able to use this out of school because you never know when you have to measure something any place you go. As of now I understand what's going on Im not lost in any part right now but if any question pop-up anytime soon I will surely ask you. :)

Progress 2
Well my group is catching up pretty quickly. We completed the last 2 charts so we officially have all 8 done. We also found our X minimum and maximum as well as out Y minimum and maximum. All we have left to do is to graph which is becoming a little complicated because we have to find the perfect number to go by on the Y axis. We went by 2's on the X axis.
I generalized by what I got for the X is which I then put together to get the generalized form because that was what i was going to need in order to graph my calculations. For UPS (165 in), the Y axis goes by 20,000's and the X axis goes by 2's for Fed Ex Express the Y goes by 1,000's and the X goes by 1's. I organized my data into different tables by using different numbers and shapes. The number we used were consecutive. Ex: 2,3,4, and x. X because that was going to help me get to the generalized form.
When I plugged in all four of my generalized forms for UPS my volume's were very close to each other almost on top of each other. For Fed Ex Express the volumes were basically the same because they were on top of each other. In order to see the ticks on the calculator and be able to graph I had to change the X and Y scales using the window settings.
I don't remember what was the exact maximum values because I forgot my papers in school but I'm hoping I wrote enough to understand.

Homework 3/2/10
Well this really isn't much to say but that my group is behind but we are 2 tables away from finding the Y minimum and maximum as well as the X minimum and maximum. We're are calculating for UPS (165 in) and Fed Ex Express (130 in); Meaning UPS v.s Fed Ex Express. In order to get passed these last couple of steps I had to learn exactly what I had to do being that I was a little behind but, I finally understand how to get the graph filled out quickly and what I have to do to get the height length and width as well as the girth. So due to this, I'm back on track.. If anything i'll ask more questions so I exceed the expectations.
